6th Annual Philadelphia Independent Film Festival
June 26-30, 2013

CATEGORIES

Feature
A Feature is 45:00:00 or longer. (Student submissions accepted)

Short
Original Short films are no longer than 45 minutes. (Student submissions accepted)

Animation
All forms of animation will be considered.

Mini's (Cell Phone, PDA, iPod, etc)
As a new medium, we are looking for new ideas and innovative stories. The capability to play on the small cell phone / pda screen is crucial. Can you tell a story? Or just make people watch?

Music Video
Rough, Tough and RAW. A music video is shot almost every 15 minutes somewhere in the world. So they say. Accepted submissions will be screened throughout the Festival as well as featured.

Music Documentary
A Documentary Film with a music concentration. All forms of music are encouraged. Experimental approaches encouraged.

Special Features
Special Features exists so film makers can produce movies that do not fit in the typical genre based mold. IF you have produced a movie that you think fits this criteria, use this category for submission.

Real Time Documentary
The Digital age has ushered in Real Time movie making. Gone are the days when travelers would set off with nothing but a map and a 35mm. Today GPS, Video, smart phones, disposable video cameras, iPhones, palm devices and other mechanical recording devices put the story in the public space in real time. This Category is designed to fill that experience. Where have you been?

Political
Political films should raise legitimate political questions and / or provide information on political subjects. All forms are accepted for review. Blatant propaganda will be exposed as such.

Travel
The Travel category is movies based on a Travel experience(s). This is either Fiction or Non-Fiction. We strongly encourage such movies to be meaningful and positioned with a message or experience.

Trailers - NEW CATAGORY
Trailers can be the best way to create a buzz for a film as they bait the audience by giving them a taste of what's to come, and can very often be the deciding factor in whether or not a film is seen. This new category at PIFF allows filmmakers to not only compete with other filmmakers in this crucial arena, but to do so in a way that allows their films to truly begin with that "festival buzz," which so often brings a film notoriety.
